Rep. Melancon Announces $4 Million Federal Start-Up Loan for St. Mary Biofuels Facility
Loan Will Help South Louisiana Business Enter the Growing Renewable Energy Industry

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-LA) announced today that a New Iberia business has been approved for a guaranteed loan of $4,000,000.  The loan will help finance start-up costs for a new biofuels production facility in St. Mary Parish.  The federal loan was awarded to Sustainable Fuels, L.L.C., through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program. 
 
Rep. Melancon Announces Houma Regional Arts Council to Receive $13,000 Grant for Big Read Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-LA) announced today that the Houma Regional Arts Council was awarded a matching grant of $13,000 to organize a Big Read program.  The National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) created the Big Read program in 2006 as a way to encourage Americans to discover the joy of reading great literature.
